The January 29 Fallout 76 Patch is Approaching the Issue

The developers have noted that this change is because the above weapons don't fire bullets, so it's a bit odd for them to have a modifier that gives them exploding bullets, and they will return in the future with some adjustments. These limits exist primarily to keep servers from performing poorly, which can happen when we have too many items in the game world, Bethesda said in its patch notes. They also play role in helping to regulate the in-game economy. We do recognize the desire to be able to own more of the cool items that we have in the game, and we are looking into a variety of solutions, including increasing the stash size. As mentioned, official patch notes should be released once downtime begins. However, although new Fallout 76 Patch Notes have not been shared just yet, the team has given some indicators of the many changes and fixes they're looking to implement. We imagine the official patch notes will be far more extensive, but for the time being, we can expect to see some of the following changes once the game is updated.


The patch, which is approximately 3.5 GB on consoles and around 500 MB for PC, brings a selection of general performance improvements and stability fixes. There have also been a wide variety of balance changes added to the game, which you can read below, via the official Fallout 76 blog post. The bulk of it is focused on dozens of bug fixes and balance changes, including improved stability changes and performance improvements. Other highlights include an update to the unique but oft-ignored Hunter Hunted PvP quest.


The biggest potential change is the one to carry weight, which is now capped at 1,500 pounds above your character's maximum carry weight. The example provided is that a character with 210 carry weight can now carry a maximum of 1,710 pounds. It is now impossible to exceed this new weight limit moving forward; characters who already exceed this weight limit can keep their inventories, but cannot add any additional items and/or caps until they've cleared the bar and lowered their inventory.


Any character which exceeds the new absolute carry limit won't be able to add any additional items to their inventory until they go beneath the limit, but they also won't be able to add any caps to their stash either. This means that if players want to keep making money, they'll have to cut back on the weight. Players have and likely will still find some ways around the anti-duping measures, but the new limitations will make doing so more challenging.


It's worth noting that despite a lot of chatter, this update won't have anything to do with the games forthcoming survival mode features or additional PVE Endgame content. There's also a swath of changes that were made to C.A.M.P., crafting, and workshops.
